About Me

Hi, I’m Crystal Murdock

I’m a surface pattern designer, quilter, and lifelong maker with a passion for helping others discover the joy of creating. I believe that sewing, crafting, and designing aren’t just hobbies—they’re a form of therapy, a way to share beauty, and a reflection of the fruit of the Spirit.

My Creative Journey

I learned to sew in 4th grade 4-H—my mom was our leader (and yes, she insists I give her full credit!). From ripping seams to perfecting details, she and my grandmothers—both seamstresses—instilled in me a love for making things with my hands and doing them well. That legacy continues today in my own work and in my desire to teach others how to sew, quilt, and now design.

Designing fabric has become my newest adventure, and I absolutely love it! I want to create the prints I’ve always wished for—patterns that belong in my quilts, on my clothes, and in my home. I’m still discovering my signature style, but it’s rooted in joy, color, tradition, and storytelling.

My Why

I’m a sinner saved by grace—hallelujah! My faith is the foundation of everything I do. My daddy taught me to trust in the Lord daily, and Proverbs 3:5–6 is my guiding verse. I try to lay everything at the foot of the cross and walk in faith, no matter what life brings.

My family is my heart. I’m married to my best friend, a retired football coach who keeps me laughing. We raised two beautiful daughters and lost our oldest to suicide in 2018. That loss changed everything, and though we’re still grieving, we cling to hope. My younger daughter is my best friend, and my five grandchildren—who call me “Gaga”—are the light of my life. They are often the inspiration behind my designs and creativity.

Beyond Design

From florist to factory seamstress, photographer to payroll specialist—I’ve worn many hats! I’ve even hoed cotton (yes, really!). I believe in hard work, staying busy, and always learning. My Grandma Kitchens used to say, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop,” and I guess it stuck.

I also love sharing what I know. Teaching others to sew and create brings me so much joy. Whether you’re brand new to quilting or a seasoned stitcher, I’d love to encourage you on your creative journey.
